Know Before You Go

Best Season to Trek

The optimum period for trekking in the Lauri Binayak Pass is during Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November).  These seasons are the best seasons, which offer the stunning beauty of nature, comfortable trekking days and dry trails.

Spring (March to May): Spring is the best season for trekking in Nepal. The forest is colorful due to rhododendrons and different wildflowers. The temperature is mild and perfect for walking in the daytime. Days are warm and nights are relatively cooler.

The season is an open-door invitation to the trekkers to take in the beauty of the cultural and natural scenery of the Himalayas, hills and the surrounding areas. The sky is not just clear but also transparent enough to see the mountains of the surrounding areas very nicely, so hikers can very easily take beautiful pictures of the scenic beauty.

Autumn (September to November): Autumn is a perfect and popular season for the Lauri Binayak Pass Trekking with Boundless Adventure. This time is accompanied by stable and moderate weather and temperature, making it perfect for outdoor activities. The monsoon has already passed, so enjoy the clear skies that come with it, which translate to crystal-clear views of the magnificent Himalaya, revealing the peaks in their best light.

However, autumn is the favourite trekking time for travellers around the world; it is less crowded compared to the Everest region, thus allowing nature lovers to appreciate the scene without being surrounded by large crowds.

Winter (December to February) is the off-season for trekkers, but it has its own challenges; the freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall that totally block the trails.

The monsoon season (June to August) comes with a lot of rain, which makes the trails slippery and increases the risk of landslides, thus making trekking during this season generally not advisable.

Trekking Difficulty

The Lauri Binayak Pass Trek is rated as a moderate to difficult challenge, which means that it can be taken by those who are rather fit and have had at least some trekking experience. The route is quite steep and offers many ascents as well as descents, especially when you get near the high mountain pass at 4,610 meters, where good physical conditioning and stamina are a must.

The trekkers will also be encountering different types of terrains, which are rocky trails, forest paths, and grassy lands. These terrains at the higher altitude may be challenging since the trekkers would have to acclimatize to avoid falling sick due to the altitude. The hike is not marked by technical climbing, but still, the junction of elevation, weather variation, and physical strain necessitates being in the best of shape for all taking part in the trek.

Proper conditioning, an optimistic attitude, and a slow pace will contribute positively to the trekking experience, allowing the trekkers to have a full view of not only the superb scenery but also the cultural diversity of the area.

Safety Tips

  • Acclimatization: Permit time for your body to get used to the high elevation areas by climbing slowly and taking extra days at some places, like Kyanjin Gompa, which are points of altitude elevation.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink a lot of water to keep your body hydrated and more especially in high altitudes. Purification tablets or filters will be good for you in getting safe and pure drinking water.

  • Weather Awareness: Get ready for unexpected weather. Go through forecasts and take the right clothes for different situations, including rainwear and warm layers.

  • Travel Insurance: Obtain comprehensive travel insurance that covers trekking and emergency evacuation for peace of mind.

  • Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to signs of altitude sickness, such as headaches or nausea. If symptoms occur, descend to a lower altitude and seek medical attention if necessary.

  • Guide and Porters: Hire a local guide and porters for safety and support. A knowledgeable guide can assist with navigation and provide insights into local culture.

  • Stick to the Trail: Always stay on marked paths to avoid getting lost or encountering dangerous areas. Carry a map or GPS device for navigation.

  • Emergency Contacts: Make a list of emergency contacts and keep it handy, for instance, local authorities and your country’s embassy.

  • First Aid Kit: Use a personal first aid kit that contains all the necessary supplies, including pain relievers, band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and personal medications.
