How Do You Get To Upper Mustang?

Lo-Mangthang was the capital of the Upper Mustang. It is famous for its unique landscape, local culture, Buddhist arts, and architecture. It would help if you flew or drove from Kathmandu to Pokhara, then to Jomsom. Jomsom is where you would like to start your Upper Mustang trek (2,780 m above sea level).

You will reach Jomsom the same day you fly from Pokhara, and you will start your trek by walking towards Kagbeni Village. This is the start and end of the restricted trekking area. We highly recommend you trek from the beginning of February to the end of November, as it is in the rain-shadow region of Nepal's Himalayas. It is the only trekking area in Nepal where you can trek even during the monsoon season.

However, people can also visit Upper Mustang by a Jeep tour. The Mustang tour takes one week to complete from Kathmandu by Jeep, not trek.
