You need to have Sagarmatha National Park permits to enter the Mount Everest region either you go for trekking in Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Valley, Everest three passes, Return by helicopter, or a Helicopter tour. Our journey starts from Kathmandu, the flight towards the Lukla airport, we land at Lukla for refueling and some refreshment. Then fly to Kalapathar over the Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Dingbouche and Pangbouche. These are the many sherpa villages and suspension bridges. We’ll land on the Kalapathar and overfly Base Camp and Khumbu glacier. Then we’ll have the amazing view of Mt. Everest and other peaks with the 360 degrees surrounding the snow-capped mountains. After exploration of the area, our flight takes us towards the Everest View Hotel which is the most renowned hotel in the Khumbu region where we’ll have our delicate breakfast. After spending some time here, now we’ll have our flight back towards Kathmandu via Lukla.
The climate of Everest is always aggressive because of its high altitude. However, overflying to Everest Base Camp (5364m) can be done all the time throughout the year in weather is keeping supporting us. Everest Base Camp where in the morning we can find very clear weather every day. We can find that January is the coldest month of the year where summit temperature can decrease as low as -76 F (-6 degrees- Celsius) and July is the warmest month of the year where the temperature is 19 0F (-7 degree- Celsius). Helicopters this season are good but all the time the weather might not be clear so it would be better to check the weather forecast before your trip starts from Kathmandu.
June, July, and August fall under the rainy season in Nepal. It is a risky season throughout the year but also it is possible to operate the helicopter flight even though in this season. Frequent change in the weather, the regular flights might get affected, on this season. We can have low visibility during the rainy season in Nepal. Heavy rainfall and cloudy also become a serious problem at the moment. So we are not recommended helicopter flights during the Monsoon season.
To be honest, we are not taking off even from Kathmandu while there is less visibility in every season. We’ll post pond your trip right following days and the process continue.
