Kathmandu Pilgrimage Sightseeing Tour

The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, has gained its name as an ideal tourist destination that attracts visitors to its rich history, culture, and pilgrimage destinations. On the journey to Nepal Pilgrimage tour, visitors first go sightseeing at the sacred Hindu temples and Bhisshist monasteries of Kathmandu. Being home to several holy sites, especially for Buddhists and Hindus, Kathmandu is a must-visit destination for pilgrims seeking enlightenment and cultural immersion. Here are some of the areas of the Kathmandu Pilgrimage sightseeing tour:

Pashupatinath Temple

Located in Gaushala Kathmandu, Pashupatinath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the bank of the Bagmati River that attracts devotees and tourists alike. Pashupatinath is the holiest Hindu temple, providing a glimpse into Nepal’s heritage during sightseeing. The temple holds a Hindu mythology belief and history that our guide will explain in detail during your visit.

While visiting Pashupatinath temple, you can see the pagoda-style roofs, carved wooden beams, and stone sculptures, which showcase the traditions of Vountry. During the visit, you can witness religious practices and rituals performed by priests and devotees. Furthermore, the temple’s location and setting provide a peaceful environment in which to practice spirituality.

Krishna Temple

Krishna Temple of Patan is another pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Krishna. While visiting the temple, you can get to see the Shikhara-style architecture. As the temple lies in the Patan Durbar square, you can also explore the Durbar area during your visit to Krishna Temple. The temple is related to King Siddhi Narasingh Malla.

The Krishna temple of Patan is of unique style with three floors and beneath 21 golden peaks. Among its three floors, the first contains a statue of Krishna, Shiva (as Linga) on the second and Lokeshwar on the third. You can see the image of Vishnu with Garuda on the temple premises because there is a belief that Krishna is a reincarnation form of Bishnu.

You can also get involved in that ritual activity if you find it interesting.

Swayambhunath Temple

Another peaceful historical site sightseeing during the Kathmandu pilgrimage is Swayambhunath, a Buddhist stupa at the top of the hill. As you get to the Swayambhunath, view the entire Kathmandu valley. The ambiance on the stupa as players flutter in the sky and the melodious sound of chants of Buddhist monks will be in your ear. Visiting Swayambhunath provides you with insight into traditional Buddhist rituals and ceremonies.

The iconic stupa with pagoda style is a significant attraction when visiting Swayambhunath. While visiting Swayambhunath, you can circumvent the stupa by spinning prayer wheels and praying at the shrines. There is also a Hindu temple before the stupa, showcasing Nepal’s Nepal’s coexistence of two religious beliefs. Furthermore, you can see the monkeys in every area of the stupa.

Manakamana Temple Tour

The Manakamana temple is a significant Hindu Pilgrimage site in the Gorkha district. Manakamana temple while driving to Pokhara, as the Manakamana temple lies at the middle point. Hindus believe that visiting the temple fulfills the wish of devotees. Devotees from Nepal visit Manakamana Temple to seek blessings, especially during auspicious occasions and festivals. As the Manakamana temple is at its height, you’ll have a panoramic view of surrounding landscapes, including the Trishuli and Marshyangdi rivers. Also, travelers get to see the areas while traveling through Cable cars. Moreover, the temple wood carvings reflect the traditional Nepali style and the religious heritage.

Essential Information - 9 days Nepal Pilgrimage Tour

Best season to travel in Nepal Pilgrimage tour

The best season for the Pilgrimage tour in Nepal is throughout the year since the tour doesn’t involve any outdoor activities and doesn’t demand any physical challenges. Thus, selecting the best season entirely depends on one’s preferences. Nepal faces four seasons, including Spring, Summer, Autumn, and March, and one can undertake the Nepal Pilgrimage tour in the season they are comfortable with.

Spring (March, April, and May) is perfect for a tour. The season brings blossoms of rhododendrons and clear skies. Festivals, including Buddha Jayanti and Nepali New Year, also occur in Spring, making it the best time to tour Nepal’s pilgrimage sites.

Summer (June, July, and August) has warmer and longer days, providing more enjoyable tours. Yet, the Spring comes with the monsoon season obstructing your tour. We suggest you check the weather forecast before planning for the tour.

Autumn (September, October, and November) with clear skies, moderate temperatures, and post-monsoon freshness make the ideal time for the Nepal Pilgrimage tour. Also, festivals including Dashain and Tihar fall during the Autumn season. Thus, you can experience the significant festivals of Nepalese if you take a tour during the Autumn season.

Winter (December, January, and February) is cold at the higher elevations of Nepal. However, the pilgrimage tour will not take you to a much higher elevation, so you’ll experience crisp, peasant weather during this time. The mountain ranges are precise and provide excellent views during winter, adding beauty to the tour.

Best pilgrimage tour in Nepal

With 20 people in a group, we just finished our pilgrimage tour in Nepal. We visited some holy sites, including the Pashupatinath temple, and significant Buddhist Stupas, including Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath Stupa in Kathmandu Valley. We planned to go to Pokhara by bus and visit the Manakamana temple on the way, but the plan failed due to the time limit. So we take a flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu, and from Pokhara, we take a flight to Jomsom for a Muktinath visit. After reaching Jomsom, we took a jeep and drove to Muktinath temple. The tour was rushed, but it was memorable and always remembered.

Boundless Adventure managed everything calmly even though we were in a larger group, and their commitment to providing an unforgettable experience was evident throughout the journey—a highly recommended trekking agency.

Best service of Boundless Adventure

Fourteen of our team did the Nepal Pilgrimage tour by taking service from Boundless Adventure. Our tour went beyond our expectations. Boundless Adventure customized our itinerary as per our preference. Witnessing the Aarti ceremony at Pashupatinath temple was spiritually calm.

The peacefulness of the Boudhanath and Swayambhunath stupa and the chanting of prayers enhanced our experience spiritually. The cable car ride and the temple’s beauty during the visit to Manakamana temple were unforgettable. The beauty of the Bindhyabasini and Gupteshwar Temple in Pokhara left a lifelong impression.

The scenic flight and the calm atmosphere at Muktinath Temple were incredible. Boundless Adventure’s well-organized itinerary, as per our preference and expertise, made the visit truly memorable. We are planning our next visit to Lumbini and will choose Boundless Adventure for our next tour.

Miracle burning flames in Muktinath

We participated in a mind-altering tour of the Nepal Pilgrimage with three of our group. The tour provides a glimpse into Nepal’s rich culture and the belief of Nepalese in their religion and god. Witnessing a flame worshipping at sunset was a mesmerizing experience in Pashupatinath temple.

Circulating the stupa of Boudhanath and Swambhnath while spinning prayer wheels felt like connecting with Buddhist teachings. Flying to Pokhara and then to Jomsom provides the bird’s gaze view of Nepal. The natural beauty of Mustang’s arid landscapes and the spiritual aura of Muktinath Temple, which has water spouts and always burning flames, left me speechless about Nepal’s spiritual heritage.

Our guide was amiable and provided information about the pilgrimage site we visited. The overall management was well organized. We plan to trek in the upcoming autumn and have already done pre-booking with Boundless Adventure. We can’t wait to meet the Boundless team for the second time.
