Before traveling to Nepal, U.S. citizens can complete an online form from the official Nepal Immigration website. The E-Visa will be approved online, and U.S. citizens can present it upon arrival.

However, Tribhuvan International Airport, in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is the only international airport in Nepal. Therefore, travelers must fly to Tribhuvan International Airport and take off from the same airport. However, some of the transits that many travelers found suitable are through Doha, Dubai, Singapore, India, China, Malaysia, and Bangkok.
Similarly, travelers can catch a flight from two countries that border Nepal: India and China. India mainly provides the shortest flight to Kathmandu compared to China. Several Indian airlines, including Air India, Indigo, SpiceJet, and Vistara, operate daily flights to Tribhuvan International Airport. Indian flights are convenient terminals for layovers. Restricted areas require a special permit for entry to control and manage tourism while preserving cultural, geopolitical, and ecological significance. Unlike other treks, Individual treks are forbidden in restricted areas. The government of Nepal highly monitors and regulates restricted areas. Permits to trek in restricted areas can only be obtained from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu through an authorized trekking agency.
